You may have heard it through the grapevine, and now it’s time to make it official: the Christian Wells Family Reunion is coming to Detroit, Michigan, August 20–23, 2026, and you have got to be there!

As we gather in 2026, we are celebrating our roots, which began in 1977. The host, Ida Belle (Christian) Green, must have told her brothers and cousins, “I don't care how you get here, just get here if you can.” Motown songs filled the air then, and those songs are the soundtrack to our memories, reminding us that being together is what matters most.

 

This reunion is our chance to reach out to one another, laugh a little louder, hug a little longer, and maybe even find ourselves dancing in the streets. It’s about honoring our elders, celebrating our present, and creating memories the next generation will carry forward.

From good food and great conversation to music that moves the soul, this is more than a reunion; it’s a reminder of how powerful we are when we come together. So, mark your calendars, spread the word, and bring your stories, your photos, and your dancing shoes.

When we attended our first family reunion together, we were just 8 years old. That was 1996, in Dallas, Texas. We may not remember every detail, but we remember the feeling — the laughter, the love, and the joy of being together. Since then, reunion after reunion, that feeling has stayed with us — a reminder that family is the place that always feels like home.

​

We are honored to serve as your 2026 Christian Wells Family Reunion Chairs, and we truly hope each of you will say  “ain’t no mountain high enough, ain’t no valley low enough, ain’t no river wide enough, to keep me from — coming to Detroit!”
